Robinson looks to 2013 improvement

PACKAGING manufacturer Robinson today said that it expects revenues to be £21.2m for 2012 with an improvement in profitability.

The Chesterfield-based group, which makes plastic and paperboard packaging for brands including Gillette and Olay, said that 2012 revenues would be in line with management expectations, 1% down on the previous year after it passed reduced costs for plastic resin onto its customers.

The quoted group, which will announce its full year results on March 21, said that underlying volumes are 2% higher than 2011 and slower than expected progress in bringing on new business due to delays in customers’ operations should come through in 2013.

Robinson, which was founded as a family business 175 years ago and has manufacturing operations in Nottinghamshire and Lodz in Poland, employs 225 people and has a substantial property portfolio it is looking to develop.

Robinson mainly operates in the food, drink, confectionery, cosmetic and toiletry sectors with customers including Proctor & Gamble, Nestle, Kraft, United Biscuits, Northern Foods, Masterfoods, Bakkavor, Unilever, Avon, Boots and Dr Oetker.
