NG Developments scoops shopping centre contract

A YORKSHIRE curtain walling and rainscreen cladding specialist has picked up a contract worth more than £600,000 as part of The Moor shopping centre redevelopment in Sheffield.

NG Developments, based in Wakefield, will manufacture and install 1,200 sq m of glazed curtain walling to hold the bespoke glass in place and create part of a unique roof structure that has been designed to replace the existing Castle Market.

NG will also install automated roof lights to illuminate the indoor market for late-night shoppers.

The Moor is undergoing redevelopment as part of a major investment into the city centre.

Work on the project is due to be completed by the end of 2013.

Adrian Lee, commercial director at NG, said: “We are delighted to be involved in such a huge Yorkshire project and we believe this is another major step forward for us.

“The Moor contract is certainly an engineering challenge due to its sophisticated structure, but we are really enjoying putting it together. Leslie Jones Architecture described its roof as being dramatic and prominent and I think the people of Sheffield will really like it.”

NG Developments also announced the hire of a new commercial manager, Guy Olsen, who has more than 13 years experience in the construction industry.
