Accountancy firms BDO and PKF complete merger

BDO and PKF have officially completed their merger with Ian Beaumont set to head the enlarged operation in Yorkshire.

Mr Beaumont, who was already in charge of BDO’s team in the region, will be the partner responsible for 200 staff working from offices in Leeds and Sheffield.

The two accountancy firms will trade under the BDO brand as part of an organisation with revenues of more than $6bn operating in 138 countries worldwide.

The merger will see staff from PKF in Leeds move across the city to BDO’s base at Bridgewater Place. PKF’s office in Sheffield will continue to operate.

Mr Beaumont said: “The announcement demonstrates both firms’ on-going commitment to Yorkshire. The merger will greatly benefit the region’s professional community.

“It will provide broader and deeper expertise and international reach for many of our ambitious clients on a local basis, but will also allow staff to gain broader experience from working in an enlarged firm.”

A spokeswoman for BDO said there was not expected to be any reduction in fee-earning roles, nor in PA and secretarial roles.

“There may be very limited reductions in operational and administrative roles, where merged offices result in duplication,” she said.

“Enlarged central support departments are also likely to result in some duplicated roles, leading to some reductions.”
