Gritty success story for Fletchers Bakeries

THE team at Fletchers Group of Bakeries have highlighted the way TheBusinessDesk.com’s Masters awards help to celebrate the contribution colleagues make to our regional business success stories.

The Sheffield firm took home the award for Yorkshire Grit at last year’s awards and for this business, which recovered from a devastating fire in 2006 to become the leading independent manufacturer of own label bakery goods in the UK, it was an extremely proud day.

HR director for Fletchers, Steve Boyd, said: “The team at Fletchers was very proud that the work put into generating a recovery following the events of 2006 should be recognised in such a way. To have such successful people (the judges) decide that we merited such an award was very satisfying.”

Since scooping the award, Mr Boyd said the team at Fletchers have felt inspired and the win has resulted in positive impact.

Mr Boyd said: “We feel that our colleagues across our group have been inspired by the recognition and the presence of the award logo on our website has definitely prompted questions from suppliers and customers alike. We have been pleased with this impact and to share our story with them.

“In what has certainly been a challenging year for our business at Fletchers – with some major projects that have had to be delivered – we believe the team was motivated to the successful delivery of this projects by receipt of the award.”

Nominations close tomorrow, so now is the time to make sure your successful business is recognised.

Mr Boyd said: “We entered the award to show everyone (colleagues, customers and suppliers) that we believed in the business and the efforts in the major turn round that had been achieved.

“We believe the awards are an excellent way to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution colleagues make to business success.

“The fact that Fletchers’ factory is located in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and this was an award given by local people made is especially satisfying.”

Celebrating achievements in innovation, international trade, grit, social responsibility, leadership and new business, the Masters will highlight the positive hard work the region’s businesses put in to help the economy grow and create thriving companies.

With just six awards, the focus is on quality, not quantity and all shortlisted businesses and individuals are interviewed at the event, making them the stars of the show.
