Predator Nutrition prepares to pounce on city centre

PREDATOR Nutrition, a fast growing sports nutrition supplements business, is about to unveil its flagship store at The Light in Leeds city centre.

Having just celebrated its fifth birthday, the Leeds-based company has grown 40% year on year and has enjoyed a strong start to 2013 with sales and profits rising more than 50%.

Reggie Johal, founder and managing director, started Predator Nutrition from his family home.

Having previously worked at Deloitte in London, he was keen to follow his passion of becoming an American football player and left the professional services industry to pursue his dream.

Successfully playing American Football for Great Britain, Johal passionately trained and perfected his nutritional intake.

Frustrated by the lack of choice in sports nutrition and the fact many brands had little representation in the UK market place, he saw a gap in the market.

Today the business has grown to employ 25 people at its Birstall headquartersPredator Nutrition and the compamy says that 2014 will see an even bigger expansion for the company, with the opening of a new custom-built warehouse and office complex in the city.

Johal said: “Our strength lies in the fact we are able to cater for a wide audience, we’re a complete omni-channel retailer. We stand apart from our competitors because we have outstanding relationships with some of the world’s biggest brands and access to exclusive supplements. Our partnerships with these leading brands allow us to create bespoke deals that are simply not available anywhere else.

“We now have 30,000 customers and we’re seeing this grow each year. We’re confident that our new store opening at The Light in Leeds city centre on August 24 will increase our customer base and also offer a new and exciting format to our current customers.

“We have guest appearances including Rhinos star Ian Kirke, Benedikt Magnusson who is a powerlifting world record holder, World’s Strongest Man competitor Darren Sadler and dietician guru Rick Millar, who has helped many professional athletes including Bradford City Football team, and will be hosting a workshop on the launch day.”

The flagship store opening will also benefit smaller organisations, as local gyms and sports clubs will have the opportunity to hold workshops in store.

Jobs are being offered to Leeds University students from the sports science and bio chemistry departments who show a passion for the industry. They will also benefit from extensive training which is an integral part of Predator’s business strategy.
