Allied London recruits development director to push forward New Dock plans

THE new development director recently hired by property firm Allied London says he is looking forward to progressing the New Dock Development in Leeds.

Part of Tim Gee’s role will be to push forward with the company’s plans for New Dock, which it acquired in 2012 and plans to reposition the southbank area as a residential and business destination.

He said: “The added opportunity to my role is its ability to help realise the potential of New Dock, Leeds. Now funding is complete, we are in a better position to appoint contractors and progress the site through to physically commence work. Therefore, my role will be to attract potential occupiers and market the site to the wider market.”

Gee, who was previously in Shanghai for DTZ’s corporate residential team and then moved back to London to lead on the company’s global corporate services sector, will work with Alex Hill, creative industries property specialist, to deliver Allied London’s approach nationwide.

In addition he will also be responsible for the asset management and leasing strategy for the Leeds Dock site.

Gee joins Allied London as it launches its next generation of work with the hello project, progressing to the next stage of development at the iconic Spinningfields business district with the Cotton Building and No.1 Spinningfields in Manchester and embarks on plans for the redevelopment of the former Granada Studios site.

Gee said: “The hello project is a new vision for Allied London and is quickly becoming a culture which will facilitate the way the UK’s emerging creative and corporate organisations operate and grow. I’m looking forward to taking this cutting edge working environment to the next stage.

Michael Ingall, Allied London chief executive, said: “We’re pressing forward with our corporate strategy, developing and improving our schemes that link Manchester, London and Leeds.

“Tim has worked closely with us for a number of years and, as a result, completely understands our business and what we’re trying to achieve. He was the ideal choice for this role and will be an essential part of our team in the ongoing development of our ambitious schemes at New Dock, Leeds and our new concept, hello.”
