Endless backing sees growth story continue for The Book People

YORKSHIRE-based turnaround investor Endless has backed the management buyout of £96m turnover company The Book People from its previous owner Ted Smart.

Based in Godalming in Surrey, The Book People was founded in 1988 and  offers its customers a range of titles at discount prices.

Following the buy-out, the business will continue to grow its reputation in the market.

It also has a successful online business based out of a National Distribution Centre in Bangor.

Seni Glaister, CEO of The Book People, said: “I’m thrilled that Ted has given me and the team this opportunity to take The Book People forward and I’m delighted to be working with Endless, who share my enthusiasm for the future of bookselling.

“I don’t think there has ever been a more exciting time to be in this business and I am very much looking forward to the next chapter.”

Simon Mason, who led the deal for Endless, added: “We have been tracking The Book People’s progress for some time and when we became aware that there was an opportunity to back Seni and take the business to the next level we jumped at the chance.

“The Book People is a unique business with a lot of potential which has excellent relationships within the publishing community. Endless is delighted to support Seni and her management team to fully realise the opportunities within this market.”
