Shortlist announced for Forward Ladies’ Women in Business Awards

THE 2014 Yorkshire and North East Forward Ladies’ Women in Business Awards has announced its shortlist today.

The outstanding business woman of the year will be selected from the twelve category winners, with the announcement made at an awards ceremony at The Queens Hotel in Leeds next month.

The shortlisted finalists in each category are:

Corporate Business Leader of the Year sponsored by Finance Yorkshire: Caroline Pullich, head of business banking covering the North East for Barclays; Joanna Robinson, MD of Mansfield Pollard & Co, a Bradford-based company which designs, manufactures and installs energy efficient products and systems; Helen Thewlis, a partner at Ramsdens Solicitors, Huddersfield. 

Home Based Business Woman of the Year sponsored by Amplitude AV: Sara Danesin, the chef/patron of St John’s Dining Club and cookery school in York; Sukhvinder Javeed, MD of Milkysnugz, which supplies cuddly bottle comforters to nurture babies as they feed; Jannine Oates, a Halifax-based leadership and business performance coach, running her company, Inspirit Learning Partners; Faye Smith of Keep Your Fork, a marketing, PR and training consultancy in Sheffield.

International Business Woman of the Year, sponsored by UKTI: Sara Davies, the founder at Crafter’s Companion, which designs, manufactures, distributes and retails hundreds of craft-related products across the globe.; Karen Milner, HR director of thebigword, Leeds; Linda Torstensson, a director of children’s Swedish-designed outdoor wear firm KoziKidz of Doncaster; Anne Wilson, MD of Numill, Sheffield.

The Not For Profit Award sponsored by East Coast: Sandra Howard, founder trustee of the Fable (For a Better Life with Epilepsy) charity based in Sheffield; Alison Lowe, chief executive of Touchstone, a mental health charity in Leeds; Jodie Marshall, MD of A Mind Apart Theatre Company based in Sheffield which supports new performing artists and practitioners.

PA of the Year sponsored by Q Hotels: Sarah Caswell, PA and marketing assistant at Clarion Solicitors in Leeds; Hollie Lawson,  PA at Premier Farnell; Angela Traynor, PA and director of operations for Knowles Warwick, accountants and business advisors in Sheffield. 

Professional Services Business Woman of the Year: Gemma Clark, director and head of PwC’s Yorkshire private business team in Leeds; Rashmi Dubé, founder of Leeds and London-based Legatus Law, which specialises in services related to commercial law, tailored for the SME market; Emilda Eaton, partner and head of private clients at Wosskow Brown Solicitors, Sheffield.

Property Business Woman of the Year sponsored by the Yorkshire Post: Teresa Galley of Galley Properties, Doncaster; Karen James, equity partner at Ramsdens Solicitors, Huddersfield; Amy Wray of Applegate Properties, Holmfirth.

Retail Business Woman of the Year sponsored by Asda: Adele Carnell, MD of Filmore and Union healthy eating restaurants; Sara Davies, founder of the Crafter’s Companion (also a finalist in the international category); Helen Watson, director of retail and catering at Ferndale Garden Centre, Dronfield.
