BUSINESSES in Yorkshire are being invited to express an interest in being part of new international sporting event – The Tour de Yorkshire.

The Tour de Yorkshire will be a major new race on the global cycling calendar, featuring some of the world’s best riders – and backed by Tour de France owners ASO and British Cycling.

The race will be a 2.1 UCI Europe Tour event, guaranteeing the participation of some of the world’s leading cyclists, and will take place from May 1 to 3, with an intention to have a women’s race on the middle day.

Routes are yet to be decided, but given the race is planned to be an annual event, it is hoped the routes will move around the county, taking in parts that the Tour this summer didn’t reach.
