Morrisons goes fishing for 200 staff

SUPERMARKET giant Morrisons has created 220 positions and is on a recruitment drive to fill them as it nears completion of its fish production facility in Grimsby.

Morrisons acquired the former Kerry Foods building in January and has invested “heavily” in the site.

The fish production site will enable the supermarket to scale up its operations from 250 tonnes of fish a week, doubling when its second base in the town is operational.

Jobs include productions managers, skilled engineers and operatives.

Morrisons head of seafood operations, Rob Smith said: “We chose to expand our seafood operation in Grimsby because we know there is a talented and knowledgeable workforce in this area that we are keen to attract.
“We have invested in the site to get it ready to take on the extra capacity and I’m now looking to build the team so we can continue to offer our shoppers a great range of fresh fish daily.”
