Amey to make a big splash with £113m Yorkshire Water contract

YORKSHIRE WATER has awarded a five-year, £113m contract to deliver waste water services to Amey, which will see the contractor repair and maintain around 20,000 miles of sewer pipe across the region.

Amey has delivered non-infrastructure projects for Yorkshire Water for the past five years and is building a strong Yorkshire presence, through infrastructure services it delivers for Calderdale and Wakefield councils and facilities management and IT services under the Building Schools for the Future programme in Bradford.

Charlie Haysom, Yorkshire Water’s director of service delivery, said: “This major contract has been designed to deliver the best possible service for our customers at the best price with the highest levels of safety.”

Amey chief executive Mel Ewell added: “The awarding of this contract to Amey is testament to the strength of our relationship with Yorkshire Water and their trust in our ability to deliver services to the highest possible standards as well as our considerable experience in the waste water industry.

“Both our organisations will work together to improve essential services and provide an outstanding customer experience across the region.”

The contract will begin in September and run to April 2020, with an option for a further five-year extension.
