Welcome to Yorkshire recruits former PwC senior partner

FORMER senior partner at PwC Ron McMillan has been appointed as Welcome to Yorkshire’s chairman,

He is replacing outgoing chairwoman Claire Morrow who has been in post since 2008.

Mr McMillan worked at PwC for 38 years, and ran the firm’s Leeds office before taking an international appointment in Dubai. He also holds non-executive director roles as SCS, N Brown and 888 Holdings.

He was previously a board member of Opera North and Henshaws, Yorkshire.

He will begin his tenure at Welcome to Yorkshire on 1 November.

Sir Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “I am delighted that Welcome to Yorkshire has made such a high calibre appointment. This is a challenging and rewarding role and I look forward to working with Ron over the years to come.

“I would like to thank Clare Morrow, our outgoing chairwoman, for her tireless efforts over the last seven and a half years.Together we achieved some great successes, not least bringing the Tour de France to our county. She will be missed by all at Welcome to Yorkshire.

“Ron is joining Welcome to Yorkshire at an important time as we look forward to our second Tour de Yorkshire and the return of the hugely successful Yorkshire Festival. I have no doubt that his experience working with companies around the globe will be a great asset to Welcome to Yorkshire.”
