Fulcrum moves further on up from its own turning point

FULCRUM, the Sheffield-based provider of utilities infrastructure, has maintained its much-improved performance with a strong set of first-half figures.

It has reported pre-tax profits of £1.6m for the six months to September, up from a £0.2m loss a year earlier. Its 2014 figures had delivered a £5m improvement on profitability and Fulcrum’s latest update continues that upward trend.

Martin Donnachie, chief executive of Fulcrum, said: “Fulcrum has continued to make excellent progress. Our core operational model has been established and we have continued to deliver efficiencies, providing us with a robust platform for profitable growth.

“This solid position, together with our commitment to customer service, has supported us in achieving notable organic growth through contract wins and importantly the extension of our British Gas framework contract.”

Highlights during the six-month period include securing a 26-month extension to the framework contract with British Gas to January 2018, winning a £4m contract to install a 13km pipeline to link Scotland’s main gas network to four distilleries, and the delivery of a high volume of smaller projects, which totalled 1,100 jobs worth under £100,000.
