Fine dining restaurant shuts down

A HARROGATE fine dining restaurant has closed its doors.

Van Zeller, which has been established in the North Yorkshire spa town for seven years, has closed permanently.

Founder Tom van Zeller said that it was due to the overcrowded Harrogate dining market, following the opening of several new restaurants.

Mr van Zeller said in an Instagram post: “Good morning. It is with great sadness that I announce that Van Zeller is now closed for business permanently.

“Further economic uncertainty and a staggering 8 new openings in Harrogate leave me with little choice.

“Thank you for your custom & support. TvZ”

The restaurant served traditional British dishes such as braised pig cheeks, Scottish scallops, wild sea trout, and Yorkshire duck.
