Historic Yorkshire mill drives ahead with £300,000 car park investment

THE regeneration of the iconic Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley near Leeds, where YTV’s Emmerdale and Heartbeat were once filmed, continues apace.

The Sunny Bank Mills complex, one of the most famous and historic family-owned mills in Yorkshire, now boasts a £300,000 car park

Sunny Bank Mills, situated in Town Street, has been extensively renovated to Sunny Bank Mills car parkprovide space for small and medium-sized businesses in West Yorkshire.

John Gaunt, joint managing director of Edwin Woodhouse, the owners Sunny Bank Mills, said: “With nearly 70 companies and over 300 people now occupying Sunny Bank Mills, we needed to keep investing in the infrastructure of the development, as well as releasing business space.

“So we have just completed the construction of the £300,000 Woodland Car Park, which has space for 50 cars. As its name suggests, it is situated in a beautiful woodland environment, complete with 25 metres of a Yorkshire dry stone wall, permeable resin-bonded walkways and natural landscaping and planting.”

“This gives ample parking for our tenants and allows us to keep releasing new business accommodation,” he added.

Mike Dove, of Leeds-based property consultants Dove Haigh Phillips, said: “The overall refurbishment of Sunny Bank Mills is a complete triumph, a wonderful balance of cutting edge modern office space in an environment rich in history and heritage. The attention to detail is stunning and the mill complex now provides arguably the finest office space in the Leeds-Bradford corridor.”

“This is one of the most significant mill regeneration projects currently being undertaken in Yorkshire. Steeped in history and with massive potential, Sunny Bank Mills is fast becoming one of the prime business locations in the West Leeds area,” said Mr Dove.
