Yorkshire’s Michelin-star restaurants retain their crowns

YORKSHIRE’s Michelin-starred restaurants have retained their status this year as the Michelin Guide 2016-17 was revealed, whilst a two-star site was identified just outside the region’s borders.

The Man Behind the Curtain, Leeds’ first Michelin-rated restaurant in ten years held onto its star, despite chef Michael O’Hare becoming involved in further ventures over the Pennines following a partnership with Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville for an eatery at the National Football Museum in Manchester.

The Star Inn in Helmsley retained its star for the third year, The Box Tree in Ilkley The Yorke Arms at Pateley Bridge, and The Black Swan at Oldstead were also included again, whilst The Pipe and Glass Inn in South Dalton held onto its eight-year streak with a star.

South Yorkshire restaurant The Old Vicarage was not able to get back the star it lost last year, having held since 1999.

Just beyond the Yorkshire borders, Raby Hunt at Summerhouse, near Darlington was a new addition to the two-star category, self-taught chef James Close who specialises in “unfussy, modern dishes” according to the guide.
