Building briefs: Speculative business park attracts four tenants; Caddick win big at awards and steelwork completes at £10m development

FOUR new tenants have taken premises at a business park in Doncaster which was speculatively built in a bid to attract SMEs to the region.

Fabb Projects has relocated into 12,000 sq ft at Bullrush Business Park for its research and development facility while IT support services Transact Technologies has relocated from Edlington using the move to expand into larger premises on site.

Blue Beacon will use its new unit for its food for the elderly distribution service and Land and Mineral Survey Services has taken 3,000 sq ft to expand its professional network.

Developer Carnell Management Services accessed £1.4m grant funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) to make the Bullrush Business Park development viable and help build 13 new high specification units.

The new businesses join Danum Well Services, which took three units at Bullrush Business Park, together with Signet Industrial Distribution, which concluded a 6,000 sq ft unit letting.

Rebecca Schofield, partner at the Sheffield office of Knight Frank which is joint agent alongside Ian Brookes of PPH Commercial on Bullrush Business Park, said: “Interest has been high on this project.

“The lack of available small to medium-sized accommodation in the region meant Carnell Management Services has capitalised on the development of these quality units.

“We now have a vibrant industrial park populated by smaller to mid-size businesses.”

Paul Carnell, from Carnell Management Services, said: “We were confident in the Doncaster economy in building these high class, quality industrial units. The development has proved very popular.

“The ERDF was aimed at kick starting projects to strengthen economic and social cohesion targeting SMEs in sectors including advanced manufacturing, creative and digital media, sports technologies, and medical and health. This has happened at Bullrush and the funding proved invaluable in making the build happen.”

THE first phase of steelwork is now complete at the £10m redevelopment of Steel City House on West Street.

Three steel bridges, each weighing two tons, were lifted into place using a giant tower crane.  They will link the office spaces within the finished building.

John Scotting, managing director of Scott’s Developments who acquired the property last summer: “Seeing the steel for the bridges slot into place was extremely satisfying for everyone involved in the project.

“We’ve reconfigured the entire ground floor and the space inside the building has really opened up over the last few months – something new is happening each week and we’re right on schedule to deliver the high-specification office and workspace we set out to achieve last year.”

Property agents for Steel City House are Knight Frank, Commercial Property Partners and Bowcliffe. For contact details and more information on the development visit www.steelcityhouse.co.uk
