Leeds ice cream maker scoops Co-op deal

LEEDS-based ice cream producer Northern Bloc, which is stocked at venues including Bolton Abbey Estate, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Leeds Grand Theatre and West Yorkshire Playhouse, has secured its first listing with a national retailer.

The Armley-based business will supply more than 80 Co-op stores across central and north regions, with a second launch planned for Spring 2017 which will make its natural ice creams available across Co-op stores nationally.

Northern Bloc director Josh Lee said: “We’re really excited and proud to have made it into the freezers at the Co-op.  As a small supplier the listing is a huge opportunity for us.

“The Co-op is a great local retailer that has strong food ethics like us.  It’s also a part of local communities of which we are very much part of.”

Northern Bloc was founded by Mr Lee and Dirk Mischendahl out of a desire to create ice cream that is natural and free from artificial ingredients.
