‘Car supermarket’ invests £7.2m in premises

CAR supermarket The Car People has invested £7.2m into its Wakefield branch.

The company is extending its premises with four acres of additional space at the Calder Island site.

The improvements include a new handover lounge.

Jonathan Allbones, sales director at The Car People’s four branches comments: “Our business has continued to grow and evolve since we launched in Wakefield 16 years ago.

“We were literally outgrowing the Wakefield site, and the investment was required, not only to increase the choice available to customers, but also to ensure we had the resources to maintain our high standards of car preparation and customer service.

“Therefore, we decided to invest £4.2m into showroom improvements and £3m into additional stock.
