Record Christmas for LDC-backed recruitment business as revenues reach £11.5m

Transport and logistics recruiter Driver Hire Nationwide, part of the diversified recruitment group Specialist People Services (SPS) backed by private equity house LDC, is celebrating a record Christmas after delivering revenues of £11.5m for December, a 9% increase on the same period last year.

The Bradford-based business, which supplies commercial vehicle drivers to logistics providers through its nationwide network of more than 100 offices, credits the results to a number of significant new account wins and the continuing popularity of internet shopping.

Chris Chidley, chief executive of Driver Hire owner Specialist People Services, said: “Our performance in December caps a successful 2016 in which we again enjoyed impressive growth and strengthened our business. We have continued to win work with some of the UK’s key logistics suppliers and this, combined with the increase in online retail over the festive period, has no doubt contributed to our success.”

He added: “We begin 2017 in a confident mood and while it is certain to be an unpredictable year, Driver Hire is providing the exact type of service the UK economy needs and we’re looking forward to another successful year for our business.”

SPS, the diversified recruitment group that also owns rail recruitment firm ISS Labour and a growing Driver Hire business in Australia, is backed by private equity firm LDC.

In 2016, it reported annual group revenues of £129.4m, invested £1m in its IT infrastructure as it continues to develop its technology-led, end-to-end people management services, and announced a number of strategic appointments to further strengthen its management board.
