FCA names and shames West Yorkshire insurance firm

Halifax-based insurance firm Halifax and Penn has been named and shamed by the Financial Conduct Authority, which says it has been operating without authorisation.

Halifax and Penn is based at the Northbank Business Centre in the town. It says on its website that it was created from the merger of two companies: Halifax Insurance Company and Pennine Insurance company.

The FCA said the firm is unauthorised by it, and is “targeting” people in the UK and is carrying on regulated activities which require authorisation.

A statement from the FCS said: “We believe this firm has been providing financial services or products in the UK without our authorisation.

“Almost all firms and individuals offering, promoting or selling financial services or products in the UK have to be authorised by us.

“However, some firms act without our authorisation and some knowingly run investment scams.

“This firm is not authorised by us and is targeting people in the UK. Based upon information we hold, we believe it is carrying on regulated activities which require authorisation.”
