Experian rules itself out of 125,000 sq ft office move

Experian, the global information services giant, has said it won’t be the new tenant at a new Grade A office building in Nottingham.
Rumours had been circulating around the city this week that Crocus Place could become a new landmark building for Experian, which has long wanted to bring its staff under one roof in the city.
However, the firm told TheBusinessDesk.com that it has no plans to relocate its staff there.
Crocus Place, on the Southern Gateway of Nottingham city centre, received planning permission in June. The 1250,000 sq ft scheme will have space for 1,000 desk spaces.
The proposal for the 125,000 sq ft Crocus Place scheme was unveiled at MIPIM earlier this year.
At the event in Cannes, the then-leader of Nottingham City Council Jon Collins told TheBusinessDesk.com: “We know that we need Grade A office space in the city. We’ve seen this through investors going elsewhere because we simply didn’t have the quality of office space for them in Nottingham, but developers want pre-lets and that’s not always simple.
“We have a pre-let on Crocus Place and that will help us bring the scheme forward.”
In February, Study Inn Group, which manages more than 1,800 student rooms across the UK, has bought Lambert House in Talbot Street, currently the home of Experian, in a £30m deal.
Experian will remain in Lambert House until the end of September and the reeveloped property is planned for opening in September 2020 with 300 rooms and innovative communal space.
Last October, Experian told the Nottingham Post that it was looking to cut the number of offices it operates out of in the city.
A spokesperson for Experian told The Post: “We regularly review procedure across our service delivery teams to help determine our future strategy and make sure we are giving our customers the best possible service.
“As part of this process, over the next eight months, some roles may be transferred to other regions. Wherever possible, we will find new roles for affected individuals within the Experian organisation.
“Nottingham is Experian’s home and we remain fully committed to the city and to the East Midlands region.
“A standard part of our strategy review process is to look at our office footprint. “It is our intent to consolidate our premises in Nottingham, however plans are at an early stage.”
A spokesperson for Nottingham City Council, which is developing Crocus Place, said: “As the council are still negotiating a pre-let, we can neither confirm nor deny any potential tenants.”
