On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Mike Timson of Visit Lincoln

Visit Lincoln has announced Mike Timson as its new chief executive.

Timson brings 24 years of tourism and leisure experience to the role he will take up in October 2019, including a period as an advisor to Visit Aberdeenshire.

Timson, who is also a PGA professional golfer, said: “I’m a forward thinker with a strong business sense. One of my key objectives is to demonstrate the importance of Visit Lincoln to businesses, stakeholders and the local community – by pulling these together we will succeed in growing the city further.

“Tourism is worth £203 million to the city of Lincoln and £1.4 billion to Greater Lincolnshire, and I’m looking forward to working with the team and the board of directors to increase local revenue and attract more domestic and international visitors. I also want to grow the Visit Lincoln brand and continue the Place Marketing strategy to attract more investors into the city through partnership working.”

Becky Garton

Elsewhere, Long Eaton-based interior fit-out and refurbishment firm Butler & Willow has expanded its leadership team with the appointment of client director Becky Garton.

Garton, who has over 20 years of client management experience, has previously worked as head of hotel sales at Greene King and was national account manager at Whitbread PLC.

Managing director James Willow said: “With her huge passion for design, service and workspaces, we have no doubt of the value Becky can add to our projects and plans.”
