City Briefs: the latest from the region’s listed firms

Image Scan, the Leicestershire-based manufacturer of X-ray imaging for the security and industrial markets, has said it expects to at least break even in its current financial year.

The company says that turnover for the year-ending September 30 will be between £3.3-£3.5m, while it will make a profit of anywhere between breakeven and £100,000.

Bill Mawer, chairman and chief executive officer of Image Scan, said: “I have been delighted by the outstanding effort of our entire team to keep all aspects of the business running through the COVID-19 crisis. This improvement in our anticipated results arises directly from their efforts. We expect the pandemic to continue to impact orders for some time but are moving forward with our new product development programmes in order to further improve our performance as the crisis wanes and the security technology market recovers.”

Leicester-based homewares giant Dunelm has reported strong sales for the last two months.

In an update this morning, the firm said that year-on-year sales were up 59% in July as a result of pent up demand.

A statement from Dunelm said: “Whilst the year to date performance has been materially ahead of our initial expectations, it is very difficult to provide any meaningful guidance on the future outlook given the uncertainty in the wider economy and the potential impact of further regional or national lockdowns.

“However, we remain confident in our ability to adapt to the environment and are well positioned to continue to grow market share.”
