Leicestershire Law Society president steps down

Bhumika Parmar

Bhumika Parmar, founder of BP Legal and director of Solicitors4Landlords has stepped down as the president of the Leicestershire Law Society (LLS).

She hands over the role to Greg Hollingsworth of Hollingsworth Solicitors but plans to remain an active figure in the local legal community.

During her term, Parmar focused on improving access to justice, enhancing professional development and strengthening the local legal community.

Building on the work of her predecessor, Gina Samuel-Richards, she also encouraged young people to pursue careers in law and maintained strong ties with the Leicestershire Junior Lawyers Division.

Her presidency was marked by key events such as a Diwali celebration, the Leicestershire Law Society Awards and a garden party where she awarded certificates to newly qualified solicitors.

Parmar’s initiatives included providing opportunities for local graduates, with BP Legal offering work experience to 30 graduates and inspiring other firms to do the same.

She also led successful fundraising efforts, raising £4,500 for charities including Menphys, Help the Homeless, and The Zinthiya Trust.

Parmar said: “I’ve always been a bit shy, taught me to be more confident, especially in this role t public speaking and networking. My memories from this year will serve as a constant reminder of what has been an extraordinary chapter in my personal and professional journey. Balancing motherhood, managing two businesses, mentoring the next generation, and leading society has been challenging yet incredibly fulfilling.

“It’s also been heartening to see such a talented group of individuals and their commitment to upholding the highest standards in our profession come together throughout the year to support one another. I believe Leicestershire has one of the most encouraging law societies in the UK.

“As I look forward, I’m filled with optimism and excitement with LLS members’ fresh perspectives and innovative approaches – they’re exactly what we need to navigate challenges and seize the opportunities ahead. The energy, passion and creativity of LLS are the driving force that will shape the future of our profession and our society.”
