Fortune 250 firm drives off with Lincoln car dealership

Soper of Lincoln BMW/Mini has been snapped up by Fortune 250 automotive retailer Group 1 Automotive UK.
Howes Percival’s automotive sector team advised on the acquisition.
The team also advised Glyn Hopkin Group on its sale to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).
It worked with dealership groups Steven Eagell, Listers, and FRF on acquiring Motorline’s network of 19 Toyota and Lexus dealerships.
The Howes Percival team, led by corporate partner and head of automotive Tom Redman, included lawyers from corporate, banking, property, employment, commercial, IP, GDPR, regulatory, immigration, and governance specialities, with notable contributions from Ben Hancox, Bradley Johnson, Faye Meredith and others.
Redman, said: “I’m delighted to have led the team acting for Group 1 Automotive on its acquisition of Soper of Lincoln. Hot on the heels of Group 1’s summer acquisition of multiple Mercedes-Benz dealerships which the Howes Percival automotive team also advised on, our team’s depth of resource and specialist automotive-retail knowledge was once again key to support Group 1 as it continues to grow. We wish them every success as they integrate their new dealership into their existing portfolio.”
