Intelligent move for tech recruitment firm

A new business launched in Nottingham says it can help technology companies overcome one of the biggest challenges they face – finding the right talent.

Intelligent Ways has been launched by Jonathan Millett and Luca Loscalzo, who combine experience of both traditional IT recruitment and marketing within the technology industry.

The pair say their business is significantly different to conventional recruitment firms, offering a managed talent solution targeted at high-growth technology companies.

It achieves this by “understanding the culture of the businesses it works with, being an advocate for them in the tech community, and identifying only high-quality candidates who meet their specific needs”.

Intelligent Ways has taken space in Accelerate Places on Wollaton Street – the technology co-working hub opened by Blenheim Chalcot.

Loscalzo said: “We’re not a traditional recruitment agency. We offer a low-friction talent solution which plugs our partners in to candidates pre-filtered to meet their needs.

“What this means is we learn the cultures, values, technical and business demands of all our partners and match that to the people in the tech community.

“That enables us to not only optimise the hiring processes for our partners, but also to help position their brand in the market and ultimately manage their growth.”

Millett added: “It is a matter of identifying and engaging with those who have a real passion for what they do – the kind of people who are driven to build disruptive products and applications that sit at the bleeding edge of the tech world.

“With technology advancing as quickly as it is, current skill-sets and tools may soon become dated. It is all the more important, then, for IW to introduce our partners to people who love to explore and experiment with new tech.

“The industry is growing significantly, so there is massive competition to secure the top 1-3% of people in tech. IW give their partners a competitive advantage though creating efficiencies in their hiring processes which allows these companies to secure the right people for their businesses before their competitors do.”

He added: “We also bring trust into the recruitment industry – a sector where trust is notoriously absent. This gives applicants and the hiring company assurance in the quality and validity of the opportunity present for both sides.”

Accelerate Places Nottingham is a remodelled office building which has a ground-floor café, meeting rooms and event space with floor floors of tailored desks and meetings rooms above.

It is currently home to a number of growing fintech businesses which are part of Blenheim Chalcot, and a new generation of start-ups renting desks and offices in its co-working space.

Mark Sanders, chief executive of Accelerate Places, said: “We launched Accelerate Places Nottingham based on the success we have enjoyed with a similar model in Hammersmith, London, where the next generation of tech businesses can come together to exploit the potential of the digital revolution.

“The advantage of our concept is that it puts you alongside people who already have considerable tech industry experience. But its appeal goes beyond that, and we’ve also seen significant interest from other types of business looking for a stimulating environment which encourages collaboration.

“We’re delighted to welcome Intelligent Ways, which is delivering an innovative solution to one of the most important challenges that the tech industry faces.”
