Wates set to expand East Midlands business

Contractor Wates Construction has unveiled plans to expand its presence across the East Midlands.

The firm says it will target new projects across a range of sectors, including private residential, leisure, industrial and manufacturing and all tiers of education. The move forms part of the Wates Group’s nationwide plans to double turnover to £2bn. The firm says it will also add to its 35-strong team in the East Midlands.

The contractor has also made a pledge to expand its regional supply chain network, a commitment that has seen Wates spend over £30m with East Midlands sub-contractors since its appointment to Scape’s empa framework in 2014.

John Carlin, business unit director of Wates Construction Midlands, said: “The diversity of our projects and the ongoing growth of our business has resulted in some exceptional talent in our East Midlands team and this gives us extremely strong foundations upon which we will build our regional presence.

“The increase of investment in the East Midlands presents us with an opportunity to extend our reputation as a trusted and expert contractor across both the public and private sectors, which will further cement our future as the contracting partner of choice in the East Midlands.”
