Derby train maker narrows losses

Bombardier, which makes trains in Derby, has narrowed its losses over the the last quarter, the firm has revealed.

The firm posted a loss of $31m for the three months to 31 March, down from £138m in 2016.

The firm also said its executive chairman Pierre Beaudoin would step down, but that he would continue at the firm as a non-executive director.

“We continue to gain momentum as we execute our transformation plan and begin to unleash the full value of the Bombardier portfolio,” said Alain Bellemare, president and chief executive officer

“Our continued margin expansion and improving cash performance demonstrate both the early benefits of our actions and the long-term potential of our company.”
