Profits at Edwinstowe construction firm Robert Woodhead have risen over £200,000 to £916,272 for the year-ending 31 October 2016, according to newly-filed accounts.

Turnover at the firm also rose by 26% over the period to £51.8m – breaking through the £50m mark for the first time.

Significant contract wins over the last year include the company’s first ever £10m order and a project to deliver a two-and-a-half year housing improvement programme on the New Bolsover Model Village. The company also secured the £5.4m contract for the construction of the University of Nottingham’s Research Acceleration and Demonstration (RAD) Building.

Managing director, David Woodhead, said: “In the past few years we have seen significant growth across the whole business, which has seen our staff numbers increase, as well as the size and scale of projects we are undertaking.”

The firm says it is looking ahead to another year of growth, with figures for the first quarter proving positive. Woodhead started 2017 by investing in a new fleet of vans, now being driven across the East Midlands.

The coming year will mark the start on site for Woodhead Homes, the business’ specialist team building Woodhead’s own homes for sale. This is the first time the business has built its own properties in twenty years, and it is doing so in its home village of Edwinstowe.
