Nottingham WiFi firm set to double staff numbers

Nottingham-based business WiFi firm, Performance Networks, has appointed industry heavyweight Andrew Burgess as a non-executive director as the business gears up for growth.

Burgess made his name in the industry as managing director of JMC IT, which featured for 11 consecutive years in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Small Companies to Work For, before being acquired by IT Lab in 2015.

Performance Networks is based at the University of Nottingham’s Sir Colin Campbell Building and has plans to double its headcount in the coming months. Andrew Burgess will work with founders Will Evans and David Ballard to help maintain and manage that growth as well as ensuring continued high levels of staff and client satisfaction.

Burgess said: “Very simply, Performance Networks’ growth has been driven by helping clients to overcome performance and reliability issues with their WiFi networks. However, the opportunity to then harness the potential of those networks is what is now driving the agenda and with that, the growth of our WiFi consultancy and managed services.

“I’m here to help drive and manage that growth in a sustainable way, whilst ensuring we can react to opportunities to expand as they arise.”

Evans added: “Andrew has a great deal of experience of working in fast-paced and high growth IT businesses. It is fantastic for the team and I to have him working with us as he not only knows the sector, he knows how to build teams to ensure that they can deliver the highest levels of client service.

“The provision of a high quality WiFi service and experience for stakeholders, be they employee, supplier or client, is increasingly critical to every organisation. Get it right and you can unlock performance, power growth and build great brands. Get it wrong and the results can be
painful, whether to the bottom line, reputation or in many cases, both.

“We are obsessed with ensuring our clients have all the advantages WiFi can offer without exposure to the risks, turning what might have been a liability into a true asset.”
