On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Mandie Stravino

Derby College Group chief executive Mandie Stravino has been appointed to a new national group of principals who will advise the Department for Education.

FE commissioner Richard Atkins has brought together seven principals and chief executives from colleges across the UK to advise on skills policy including the development of T-levels.

Stravino has been joined on the Principals’ Reference Group by FE leaders from Grimsby, Gateshead, Chichester, Weston, Walsall and East Kent.

The group will meet around six times a year with Ministers and government officials in an unpaid role.

Stravino said: “I am honoured to be invited to be part of the new Principals’ Reference Group.”

Megan Ronayne

EEF, the manufacturing organisation, has appointed Dr Megan Ronayne as its new regional manager in the East Midlands.

She joins EEF from the Advanced Services Group, a centre of excellence at Aston University. As transformation manager on a European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) project, Ronayne supported the service strategy and growth of 50 manufacturing and technology-innovating SMEs.

Her previous role involved the engagement and account management of businesses and the delivery of on-site workshops regarding how manufacturers design, implement and deliver revenue-growing services. She was also responsible for the development of a manufacturing community, by bringing together the companies at regular events, which provided direct networking and sharing of best practice with the adoption of services.

She said: “Manufacturing plays a fundamental role in the British economy, nowhere more so than here in the Midlands. I am looking forward to working at EEF and supporting its important role of promoting the sector and helping it to continue to grow.”
