Recruitment firm aims to create 30 jobs in Nottingham

James Taylor

The managing director of a Nottingham recruitment firm has told TheBusinessDesk.com that “it was never in doubt” that the company would stay in the city when it was looking for new offices last year – and has outlined an ambitious recruitment drive.

James Taylor of Macildowie was speaking as he gave TheBusinessDesk.com an exclusive look around his firm’s new offices, which he calls “the best of any recruitment firm in the East Midlands”.

The new offices, at Waterfront House on Station Street in Nottingham, offer a 360° panoramic view of the city, and are already proving popular with new recruits, says Taylor.

“We’ve got 50 staff in Nottingham and we’re now hearing from people who want to come and work in these offices,” he said, adding: “Our existing team love them. What’s more, we’ll have a full graduate intake this year and we feel we have enough room at Waterfront House to be able to house another 30 staff over the next three years.”

Macildowie is celebrating its 25-year anniversary this year, and Taylor added that he always wanted the company to remain in Nottingham city centre.

He said: “It was never in doubt that we would continue to operate out of the city, we have a loyal customer base here and Nottingham is a major part of our heritage. Station Street is a fantastic spot for our headquarters, there is already a huge amount of development in the area and it has great transport links, being situated next-door to the railway station and tram connections. We couldn’t be better placed to continue our growth.”

The company employed 35 new members of staff across all of its offices in 2017, with a further seven who have already started in January. Among them is Cassie Mallon, who joins as a divisional manager for Macildowie’s HR team.

She said: “Having worked for the same company for 11 years, I was adamant I would never work for another company in the recruitment industry. Then I met the Macildowie senior management team. Seeing their passion and vision for this business made me want to find out more. A few more meetings confirmed to me that I wanted to be part of it – which if I’m honest I knew from the start.

“Everything about Macildowie, from the people to the brand is amazing. Their value proposition to customers is second-to-none and for employees, it’s about empowering everyone to become the best version of themselves. To top it all off, the new offices in Waterfront House are out of this world. I’m honoured to be part of Macildowie’s management team.”

Taylor: “It’s great to welcome more supremely talented people to our team. We are now able to house more recruitment consultants under one roof than anywhere else in the city and our aim is to reach the milestone of 100 Macildowie employees across all of our offices by the end of this year. This relocation has involved a lot of consultation with our staff to improve their working environment and this investment in our team reflects the confidence we have in them.”
