Accountancy firm doubles office space in expansion drive

David Baldwin opens the new office with Lisa Emery

The Leicestershire arm of one of the UK’s fastest-growing business advisory firms has doubled its office space as part of its continuing expansion.

Baldwins Accountants has moved its two offices in Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Melbourne into new 5,000 sq ft premises at Ivanhoe Business Park.

The move is to accommodate the firm’s expanding workforce, which currently stands at 23 staff, and is being driven by Baldwins’ ability to now offer more specialist services from other accountancy firms that have been acquired by Baldwins.

Specialist teams across banking and finance, corporate finance, tax and restructuring will now operate alongside the Ashby-de-la-Zouch office’s existing specialist auditing team.

Baldwins was originally founded in Walsall 47 years ago, and has embarked on a strategic expansion programme over the past couple of years where it has grown to 82 offices across the UK.

Lisa Emery is the managing partner at Baldwins in Ashby-de-la Zouch and has been based at the office over the past decade.

She said: “Our office has been known as a centre of excellence for specialist auditing services, which has significant new business to our Ashby and Melbourne offices over the past couple of years, so to add more specialist knowledge to our team in other areas is really exciting.

“The new office we are now in is ideal as it provides us with the foundations to grow our workforce even further over the coming years, with a particular focus on developing local talent as we prepare to welcome three new apprentices in September as part of our graduate training programme.

“An increasing number of audit enquiries and businesses looking to upgrade their bookkeeping software to file invoices electronically are two of the main pieces of work driving demand for us at the moment.

“We’re anticipating increasing levels of demand for digital services as we get closer to the Making Tax Digital deadline next April, as well as further enquiries for access to corporate finance as an ageing population means more SME business owners are now looking to hand over the reigns.”

David Baldwin, director at Baldwins, added: “We are pleased to open our new office in Ashby and to service the local community with their business service needs. The new office provides exciting times ahead for us as a business as we look to expand our local presence across the country.”
