Mixed-use plans for former city nightclub get green light

How the new scheme will look

Plans to turn the former Palais dance hall in Leicester into a mixed-use scheme have been given the go-ahead by Leicester City Council.

PRA Properties now has conditional permission to turn the 11,420 sq ft building on Humberstone Gate into 42 flats with ground floor retail units.

The building was first opened in the 1930s as the Palais de Danse before undergoing a widescale refurbishment and changing its name to Studio One in 1985.

It then survived under different reincarnations before closing as Sosho in 2013.

Architect RG+P will design the new development.
