Fifty jobs to be created as former lace factory set for transformation

Stanley House

The company which is set to transform a 32,000 sq ft disused office block in Nottingham city centre into student flats says it will create 50 jobs when the work starts on site.

BSP Holdings will turn Stanley House on Talbot Street into 99 student rooms. The building, which was built in 1863 is currently vacant and is more commonly known locally as Lambert’s Factory as it was used by a lace firm of the same name until 1979.

Speaking to TheBusinessDesk.com, Adam Watson, director of BSP, said: “We hope to start construction in early 2019, subject to planning and during that phase there will be up 50 jobs created on site.”

Watson said he expects the build out to take a year.

He added: “Stanley House has stood vacant for a number of years. Our redevelopment of the site will breathe fresh life in to this historic building bringing it back to use as luxury student accommodation on the doorstep of Nottingham Trent University. The unique historic nature of the building, combined with its location, will offer a unique proposition to students.

“BSP Holdings is a family owned property company rooted in the East Midlands. We continue to build on our success with exciting expansion plans that will also create a positive impact on the built environment of Nottingham.”
