Developers confirm ‘strong interest’ in new 670,000 sq ft office scheme

Unity Square

The developers behind the 670,000 sq ft plans for Unity Square in Nottingham say any second phase of development will depend on interest on the initial scheme.

On Friday, developers Peveril Securities and Sladen Estates have lodged a planning application to bring the office space to Unity Square, the 1.14 hectare site in Queensbridge Road, opposite Nottingham Railways Station, in a move they say will bring thousands of jobs to the city.

Speaking to TheBusinessDesk.com, a spokesperson for the developers said: “There is strong occupier interest in the development and we’re in discussions with a number of organisations at the moment.

“The submission of further detail will be dependent upon determining interest in the first phase.”

The spokesperson also confirmed that there will be no mixed-use element to the scheme, which will be purely offices when built out.

Rumours on who could be the anchor tenants have been circulating the local commercial property scene for months, with HMRC the favourites to take space at Unity Square. Developers, however, are keeping tight-lipped on potential occupiers.

The planning application includes two office buildings – the first being ten storeys and the second being 13 storeys high. The build will be in two phases with only an outline proposal for the second phase submitted to the Council.
