Temperature supply chain and logistics firm Oakland International is to invest around £2.8m in a high-bay extension at its Corby facility in a move the firm says will create new jobs.

Oakland says that when the scheme is finished it will be recruiting “wherever possible” by the end of 2019.

Oakland International business unit director, Lee Whiting, said: “Oakland needed to identify a site which strategically fitted its core distribution requirements for a number of large UK retailers.

“Since launching Corby in March 2017 we have been delighted to recruit and develop a fantastic team of people, mostly from the Corby and nearby Kettering areas who have delivered industry-leading service levels for our customers. The confidence in our future recruitment strategy and the proactive support of the Corby council leadership team and reactive planning department has been a great confidence boost, which has played a significant part in our intentions to invest and grow further in the Corby region.”

Oakland International co-founder and chief executive, Dean Attwell, added: “Whilst we are still learning about our new home in Corby, we are keen to repeat what has worked well in Redditch by applying ourselves to worthwhile causes in and around Corby.

“We have always believed in getting involved, and in supporting the local communities where our teams live, focusing on working with like-minded groups and organisations who want to make a difference.”
