Sportswear brand PlayerLayer has moved into Nottingham city centre after signing a deal to take space on Carrington Street.

Previously based in West Bridgford, the company moved to a temporary office at The Poynt North on Wollaton Street before settling at 3,000 sq ft offices at 22-26 Carrington Street.

PlayerLayer makes custom team uniforms for some of Britain’s most distinguished universities, and now manufactures sports kits for a number of international sports teams.

Currently making its move into the sustainability arena, PlayerLayer has launched a new line of eco-friendly sports basics in a bid to help the fight against plastic waste. The venture includes the launch of ‘EcoLayer’ leggings made from 25 recycled water bottles and all packaging for the products is biodegradable.

Roderick Bradley, marketing director at PlayerLayer, said: “PlayerLayer continues to expand and evolve faster than we anticipated and the new HQ is a real game changer for us.

“As an innovative and highly desirable brand that continues to be in demand, our staff of 50 are always busy providing the best customer service whilst working on a number of exciting projects, so we needed a bigger, better location to accommodate this growth.

“The new office is the perfect fit for us, both in terms of location and spec. The open-plan space and contemporary fit-out is the ideal setting for our growing team who are based on the first floor. On the second floor we now have a spacious showroom for our products as well as a number of meeting rooms with great views over Nottingham.”

Tom Gray, partner at Fraser Brown Solicitors brokered the deal on behalf of PlayerLayer and the developer Carlton Street Trading, and James Woodward at Fraser Brown negotiated the lease for PlayerLayer. Paul Hinchliffe, associate and solicitor at law firm Nelsons, acted for the landlord.

Gray said: “PlayerLayer continues to go from strength to strength. Having acted for the business since start up, we are proud to be working with the team again to secure this fantastic new office space in this signature building, sensitively renovated by one of our City’s most pioneering and active developers. Situated in the desirable area of Carrington Street in the heart of the newly refashioned Nottingham Southern Gateway, this new work space will give the company the necessary environment to facilitate progression.”

Paul Hinchliffe, associate and solicitor in the commercial property team at Nelsons, who supported the deal on behalf of the landlord, said: “This was a rewarding deal to be involved in and I have no doubt that PlayerLayer will continue to prosper in its new, up-and-coming city centre location. It’s great to see such a significant company in the region investing in and showing its dedication to Nottingham.

“The property has a quirky history, with the ground floor previously being used as a drive-through, covered petrol station. It’s fantastic to see historic and prominent buildings in the heart of Nottingham being refurbished and used to their full potential. The deal was a prime example of what can be achieved through collaborative working – all parties involved worked efficiently to complete the deal and ensure a smooth transition for PlayerLayer.”
