Green light to turn former lace factory into student flats

Stanley House

Plans to turn a former office building into a 107-bed student scheme in Nottingham city centre have been given the go-ahead.

BSP Holdings is behind the scheme to transform the 32,000 sq ft Stanley House on Talbot Street. The building, which was built in 1863 is currently vacant and is more commonly known locally as Lambert’s Factory as it was used by a lace firm of the same name until 1979.

Speaking to TheBusinessDesk.com last November, Adam Watson, director of BSP, said: “We hope to create up 50 jobs on site.”

He added: “Stanley House has stood vacant for a number of years. Our redevelopment of the site will breathe fresh life in to this historic building bringing it back to use as luxury student accommodation on the doorstep of Nottingham Trent University. The unique historic nature of the building, combined with its location, will offer a unique proposition to students.

“BSP Holdings is a family owned property company rooted in the East Midlands. We continue to build on our success with exciting expansion plans that will also create a positive impact on the built environment of Nottingham.”

Watson said he expects the build out to take a year.
