Long delays on A38 after lorry sheds load of glass

The A38 in Derbyshire is closed northbound between the A5111 (Burton upon Trent) and A52 (Markeaton) due to an overturned HGV on the Markeaton roundabout.

The HGV has shed its load of glass across the roundabout. Derbyshire Police and Fire are on scene, along with Highways England Traffic Officers.

Road users are advised to follow the “Hollow Yellow Square” diversion symbol and exit the A38 onto the A5111. At the Spondon junction with the A52, turn left and continue along the A52 until Pentagon roundabout. Turn right onto the A61 to re-join the A38 at Little Eaton roundabout.

A statement from Highways England said: “Road users are advised to allow extra journey time this morning, closure is expected to be in place for several hours for recovery and clear-up work.”
