Ken Clarke faces Tory Party expulsion

Long-standing Rushcliffe MP Ken Clarke has had the Conservative whip withdrawn and faces expulsion from the Party after voting against the Government last night.

Boris Johnson’s government suffered a crucial defeat last evening after 21 Tories voted to take back control of Parliament to try and block a no-deal Brexit. The rebel MPs and opposition parties won by 328 to 301.

Clarke now faces deselection at the next General Election, which this morning seems imminent.

The other Tories who voted against their party were: Guto Bebb, Richard Benyon, Steve Brine, Alistair Burt, Greg Clark, David Gauke, Justine Greening, Dominic Grieve, Sam Gyimah, Philip Hammond, Stephen Hammond, Richard Harrington, Margot James, Sir Oliver Letwin, Anne Milton, Caroline Nokes, Antoinette Sandbach, Sir Nicholas Soames, Rory Stewart, Ed Vaizey.
