On the move: the latest East Midlands hires

Nottingham law firm Actons has appointed five new members of staff.

Harry Georgiou who has recently completed his training contract with the firm, takes up a new role in the dispute resolution team focussing on commercial disputes.

Employment lawyer Amita Chauhan joins the firm’s employment law team which is now five-strong.

Newly-qualified solicitor Alastair Rose has joined Actons corporate and commercial team after completing his training contract at another LawNet member firm, increasing the team to six.

The firm has also welcomed its intake of new trainee solicitors in Waleed Tariq and Jess Park.

Simon Dakin, director and chairman at Actons said: “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Harry, Amita and Alastair as solicitors, and Waleed and Jess as trainee solicitors.

“All of them have shown good character and a high level of ability to reach this stage, and we now hope that they apply these qualities in building successful long term careers with the firm.”

Multi-disciplinary company Focus Consultants has announced a string of promotions with six members of staff being appointed to new positions.

The promotions are across a number of departments of the Nottingham-based company, which also has branches in London, Leicester, and Newark.

Jessica Bullers, in the Environmental Services team, and James Garner, in the Building Surveying department, both move from senior consultant to associate. Bullers joined Focus 12 years ago, while James has been with the company for more than seven years.

Fran Yuill, who joined Focus nine years ago, and who works in the Building Surveying team, has been promoted from consultant to senior consultant.

Meanwhile George Jones, Kenny Lampard and Adam Revill have all been promoted from graduate to consultant. George works in the Economic Development department and has been with the company for almost two years. Lampard and Revill both work in the Environmental Services team and joined Focus nearly three and a half years and almost three years ago, respectively.
