Global fitness phenomenon to create 15 jobs in Derby

Some 15 jobs are set to be created in Derby when Orangetheory Fitness unveils its new Derby studio this month.

Located at Wyvern Retail Park, the studio combines the latest equipment with personal motivational coaching, technology and sports science to give people an innovative way to work up a sweat.

The one-hour group sessions are tailored to a participant’s ability and fitness levels, and are designed to burn calories for up to 36 hours afterwards.

Orangetheory Fitness arrived first in the UK in London, and then in the North of England in Altrincham last year, The Derby studio is the seventh to open in the country and the first in the East Midlands, employing 15 people including coaches and membership consultants.

Matt Adey, sales and marketing director, said: “We are really excited about bringing the Orangetheory Fitness concept to Derby and building a new wellness community in the city.

“It doesn’t matter whether you are already a fitness fanatic or haven’t done any physical activity for years, because everyone works at their own pace, according to their fitness levels.

“By pushing yourself into the orange heart rate zone, or near maximum effort, you’ll burn fat, while improving cardio and strength.

“We know that many people are time-poor, which is why we developed the one-hour workout and provide real-time heart rate and performance data via our wearables and app.”

He added: “Creating a strong sense of community is important to us, so don’t be surprised to see plenty of high-fives and words of encouragement from our coaches. Our members often become good friends, helping each other achieve their goals and adding a real social aspect to sessions. Across all of our studios, members love that we know their names and personal health goals – we are always on hand to help them on their own fitness journeys.”
