Leisure venue mooted as Boots Island scheme moves to next stage

How the scheme could look

The redevelopment of the former Boots Island site in Nottingham city centre has taken another step forward – and the company behind it says the vast mixed-use scheme could now include an entertainment and leisure venue.

The Conygar Investment Company says a Section 106 agreement between the Group and Nottingham City Council will be signed “in the coming weeks,” enabling the firm to start work on the first phase of the development.

Conygar acquired the former Boots headquarters site in December 2016 for £13.5 million and outline plans to create a huge mixed-use development were approved in April this year.

Once the Section 106 agreement has been signed, formal planning permission will be granted for the 2 million sq ft-plus scheme, which will include offices, apartments, student accommodation, a hotel, and now “potentially” an entertainment and leisure space.

Conygar says the leisure venue could have “various uses.”

A statement released by the company said: “We are encouraged by the discussions we have had with potential occupants for all aspects of the scheme following the resolution to grant the planning permission and we are working with the Council to agree our section 106 obligations as quickly as possible. This will enable us to proceed with the first phase of this exciting development.”
