Jobs lost as construction firm falls into administration

A Carmalor development in North Scarle

A Nottinghamshire construction firm which had been trading since 1960 has fallen into administration, with all jobs lost.

E Taylor and Sons (Southwell), which traded as Carmalor Construction, has called in administrators from RSM to look after the day-to-day running of the firm.

In its latest accounts made up to 31 August 2018, Carmalor employed 22 people. The firm made a loss of £180,000 during the previous 12 months.

Carmalor had worked with the likes of Center Parcs and the National Trust during the last 30 years and at the beginning of the decade began to specialise in disabled adaptations including refurbishment and new build properties for clients with severe disabilities, as well as one-off luxury homes with a contract value of £1m-plus.

A statement on the company’s website reads: “On 28 November 2019, Adrian Allen and Diana Frangou of RSM Restructuring Advisory LLP were appointed Joint Administrators of E. Taylor & Sons (Southwell) Limited which traded as Carmalor Construction. The company has ceased to trade and all enquiries should be directed to the Joint Administrators. The Joint Administrators act as agents of the company, without personal liability.”
