Veteran Nottingham solicitor Tom Huggon has retired from Browne Jacobson after fifty years with the firm.

Huggon joined Browne Jacobson and Roose, as it was then known, on 6 January 1970, and was promoted to partner level two years later.

Prior to his arrival in Nottingham he worked at Southern Jobling and Ashworth in his home town of Burnley.

Huggon had a broad practice, encompassing environmental and planning law, public law and civil litigation.

In 2011 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Nottinghamshire Law Society for his work as an environmental lawyer and passionate nature conservationist, as well as his public service which has spanned over four decades.

Caroline Green, senior partner at Browne Jacobson, said: “Tom has been an institution in the firm and beyond and a tremendous ambassador for the legal profession. He has had a significant impact on the growth and development of our business, helping many of our key people to attain their potential and we have much to thank him for. We wish Tom all the very best for a long and happy retirement.”

Castle Rock Brewery, the Nottingham brewery and pub group, has unveiled a new beer named in honour of Huggon and his considerable public service to the city and county.
