A Nottingham-based company has been appointed by the Home Office-backed national accreditation scheme Best Bar None to manage its day-to-day operations.

Night Time Economy Solutions (NTES), which designs solutions to address issues of safety and vulnerability in the night-time economy, is expecting to create four new jobs as a result of the appointment.

Its team, led by Sylvia Oates and Jo Cox-Brown, has worked in partnership with police forces, police and crime commissioners, Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), local authorities, hospitals, universities, licensed premises and voluntary organisations for many years.

NTES will now be responsible for liaising with all of Best Bar None’s regional schemes and managing its central scheme.

Lord Smith of Hindhead, chairman of Best Bar None, said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Night Time Economy Solutions to manage the operational processes and procedures involved in running the Best Bar None scheme.

“Looking ahead, I am confident that the scheme will be in extremely safe hands, as between them, Sylvia and Jo have a tremendous amount of experience in night-time economy management. Both have pioneered a number of ENTE safety projects including Vulnerability Training, Drinkaware Club Crew, Safe Spaces and Taxi Marshals. I look forward to working with them in the coming months.”

Sylvia Oates, who is also regional scheme coordinator for Nottinghamshire Best Bar None, added: “We are delighted to be working with Best Bar None. As a business, we are passionate about supporting and improving the evening night-time economy and, as a regional scheme coordinator for Nottinghamshire myself, I have a thorough understanding of how Best Bar None operates. We are keen to use our wider experience and knowledge to add value and develop the scheme even further in the future.”

Best Bar None operates across 70 towns and cities throughout the UK.
