Aerospace giant creates new roles to drive innovation

Kieran Murphy

Derby-based aerospace and defence supply chain provider Pattonair has made two key appointments to help drive its strategic long-term business plans.

Kieran Murphy and Martin Cole have become the firm’s first ever innovation managers.

The company has been at the forefront of the transition towards “Industry 4.0,” leveraging opportunities around digitisation and supply chain automation to drive improved performance. Now, its two newest faces will look to drive Pattonair’s global innovation team to the next level.

Murphy has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry. He previously spent time at Rolls-Royce’s R2 Data Labs identifying and implementing opportunities for digital transformation within the business, and most recently worked as an account manager at the AI start-up business QiO Technologies.

Cole, meanwhile, brings over ten years’ experience in the automotive, nuclear, aerospace and defence sectors to his new role. He joins Pattonair from Deloitte, where he served as a managing consultant.

The pair will report to Pattonair’s global innovation director Jason Rance.

He said: “We are delighted to welcome them both. They bring a wealth of experience and skills and will help to underline our reputation as an innovative leader in our industry.”

The appointments follow Pattonair’s $1.9 billion merger with US-based Wesco Aircraft Holdings and the acquisition of aircraft spares company Adams Aviation.
