Online move sees flooring supplier almost double in size

A fast-growing flooring supplier has expanded its footprint in the West Midlands after almost doubling in size over the past 14 months.

Factory Direct Flooring, which has a retail outlet in Hinckley, supplies wood, vinyl and laminate flooring to retailers, commercial sites and residential customers.

The 32-year-old firm – the sister company to Carpet World – moved the majority of its sales online 14 months ago and has seen its sales skyrocket as a result.

Now, the company has expanded its Nuneaton warehouse to 25,000 sq ft in order to keep up with demand.

Founder and managing director Paul Hambidge said: “We have grown from just one distribution warehouse eight years ago to just completing our fourth warehouse extension  on our site of over 3,500 square feet this year, which is quite an incredible achievement.

“We noticed a few years ago that to secure our company and future, we needed to move to online sales. And while many people criticised us for this as we didn’t decide to open another store, we have not only increased our business but also the number of people we employ and have seen nothing but success.”
